Mindless MU is a machine. A charming one, we hope — but a machine.
This page explains exactly what MU is, what happens to your conversations, and where the whole thing stands legally. No fine print, no lawyer fog.
What Mindless MU is
Mindless MU is an AI-powered chatbot, built on large language model technology from OpenAI. It is not a human, and it is not secretly a human on a keyboard somewhere. Every response you receive is generated by artificial intelligence, in real time, just for you.
MU is designed to reflect the voice and perspectives of the artist Pausha Foley — her ideas about perception, embodiment, and awareness shaped its knowledge and personality. But MU is not Pausha. Nothing MU says is a statement by Pausha Foley, and she hasn't read your conversation. You're talking to an AI interpretation of a point of view, not to the person who holds it.
What MU is for — and not for
MU exists for entertainment and exploration. Its answers can be insightful, strange, funny, or flat-out wrong — sometimes all four at once. AI-generated responses may contain inaccuracies, inventions, or confident nonsense.
MU does not provide medical, psychological, legal, financial, or any other professional advice. If something MU says touches a real decision in your life, talk to a qualified human before acting on it.
What we collect when you chat
- Your messages. What you type (or say) to MU, and MU's responses.
- An anonymous ID. Your browser stores a random identifier so MU can pick up the thread when you come back. It's not your name, email, or anything that identifies you to us — it's a ticket stub for your own conversation.
- Voice input, if you use the microphone. Your speech is converted to text so MU can respond; the text becomes part of your conversation like any typed message.
We don't ask for your name or contact information to chat, and we don't sell or share your conversations for advertising.
Where your conversation goes
Your messages are processed by OpenAI's language models to generate MU's responses, under commercial API terms — which means this data is not used to train OpenAI's publicly available models. The chat application itself runs on hosting infrastructure we operate. Full details on data handling live in our Privacy Policy.
How long we keep it, and how to delete it
Conversations are retained so that MU can offer you continuity — a returning visitor gets a chatbot that remembers the thread. We keep a conversation for up to 12 months after your last activity, then it's removed automatically.
You can delete your history yourself, instantly, without contacting anyone: clear this site's data in your browser. MU forgets you on that device immediately, and the stored copy falls out under the retention schedule above. Because we never collect your name or email, this is the fastest and most complete way to remove your data — it's entirely in your hands. (We're also adding a one-click "Delete my history" control inside the chat to make this even simpler.)
